September 2011

Welcome South Texas Members,

We have just finished a fantastic outdoor season for USA Track & Field with the World Championships in South Korea along with National Championships for the Youth, Masters, Long Distance Running, Race Walking, and Mountain-Ultra Trail athletes.  If we can now transfer some of the enthusiasm created by these meets to our own South Texas Association, it would be fantastic!!

We are in great need of more volunteers to help host and run our meets!  There are people who will help you get started, but we really need to get more people to help out at our meets and in pre-meet management.  There are so many ways to help --- working at meets as an official, helping out at meets with pre-meet planning and during the meet, working on our website, working in meet management, doing results, etc.  As an association, we are expected to host several meets during the calendar year.  Currently, a small group of people have been expected to do a majority of the work.  This must change!!!  I am asking you to really search within yourself and see if you can help our athletes out in a particular area.  We need you!!

Our annual meeting is Sunday, September 18, 1:30 p.m. at the San Marcos Public Library.  I am hoping you can attend and see where you can become a more active member to your South Texas USATF Association.
