2018 USATF Region 12 Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships

Age Divisions & Eligibility Requirements:   
                                                                                     
8 & under (born 2010 +)* Per USATF rule 300.1 c “Athletes must be at least seven (7) years of age on December 31 of the current year to complete at the Junior Olympic National Championships.
9 – 10                             (born 2008-2009)
11 - 12                            (born 2006-2007)
13 – 14                           (born 2004-2005)
15 - 16                            (born 2002-2003)
17 - 18                            (born 2000-2001)
* athletes born in 1999 are also eligible if they do not turn 19 on or before 7/29/2018
                                                                                
Individuals: Only U.S. citizens, aliens living in the United States and foreign exchange students are eligible to compete in these Championships.  See the USATF Rules for more information and exceptions.  A competitor must compete in his/her age division only.  There will be no "moving up" in any events, including relays.  Competitors in the 8 & Under, 9 - 10 and 11 - 12 age divisions may compete in a maximum of three (3) events, including relays.  Competitors in the 13 - 14, 15 - 16 and 17 - 18 age divisions may compete in a maximum of four (4) events, including relays.  Combined events are not included in the event count.  All athletes must be 2018 members of USATF in good standing. 
 
Relay Teams: Only registered 2018 USATF member clubs may enter a relay team(s).  All athletes representing the club must be affiliated with and members of that club as part of their USATF membership.  Visit www.usatf.org/membership.
 
ENTRY PROCESS:
Individual Entries: $9 per event
Relay Entries: $36 per relay team
Decathlon/Heptathlon: $22 per event
Triathlon/Pentathlon: $17 per event
 
Club Administrators and Unattached Athletes should register online at https://www.athletic.net/TrackAndField/School.aspx?SchoolID=67715 by July 2 at 9:00pm CST.  Late entries will not  be allowed.  Online registration opens June 8, 2018.   Fees must be paid online by the close of registration.  Accuracy of data entered is the responsibility of each club and/or athlete.  An instructional video on the online registration process may be accessed by visiting, Athletic.net.
 
Valid 2018 USATF Membership and Proof of Birth is required for participation. Before registration, please ensure that your local membership chair has received (via email) a copy of the athlete’s Proof of Birth (copy of birth certificate, passport, certified baptismal record, driver’s license or U.S. government identification). See Rule 300.1 (i) for further explanation.
 
WAIVER:  All athletes who participate in the USATF Junior Olympic Program must complete the Junior Olympic Participant Waiver and Release form.  This form is already integrated in the online entry system and can be completed electronically; it can also be obtained via your association.  All forms should be submitted at the first round (association meet) of the Junior Olympic series. 
 
AWARDS: USATF Junior Olympic medals will be awarded to the top five (5) individuals and the top five (5) relay teams in each event of each age division. 
 
ADVANCEMENTS TO NATIONALS: The National Junior Olympic Championships will be held from Monday, July 23rd to Sunday, July 29th in Greensboro, NC. The top 5 athletes at the Region 12 Championships will qualify for the National Championships, in combined events, the top 2 athletes will qualify.  Information is available at: https://www.athletic.net/TrackAndField/meet/338548/register.
 
MULTI-EVENT ATHLETES:  Decathlon, Heptathlon, Pentathlon, & Triathlon athletes will be advanced directly to the Region 12 meet ONLY IF they entered this event on Athletic.net for their local Association meet!  Athletes must be entered in the Association Multi-event to be directly advanced to the Regional meet. There is also a special qualifying mark for multi-events to reach Nationals.
 
IMPLEMENT WEIGH-IN: Information will be included in your packets and put on line before the meet. Also, the schedule will be posted.  Implements will not be provided; athletes are expected to bring their own.
 
EVENT CHECK-IN: There will be check-in areas for Running and Field events.  Athletes must check in at the Clerk’s Tent at the north end of the track 45 minutes prior to the event's scheduled starting time.  All athletes will be required to remain in the designated warm-up areas after checking in. Events will be called over the PA system in the warm up area/stadium.
 
PACKET PICK UP: Team/individual packets which will include updated time schedules based upon actual entries, entry wristbands for athlete/coaches on the South Texas/Southwestern/Gulf/West Texas USATF approved background check lists (these bands must be worn throughout the entire meet or pay $10. per day for admission) athlete bibs, & pins. 
 
Packets will be available at the Quality Inn Six Flags, 6755 N Loop 1604, San Antonio, 210-696-4766 on Monday, July 9 from 4 pm-8 pm in the ballroom.  All other days, packets will be at the entrance gate of the stadium.  It would be very helpful if one person would pick up the packet for each team versus individuals asking for their numbers/wristbands.  Unattached athletes can pick up their own numbers/wristbands.
 
COMPETITION BIB NUMBERS: All competitors must wear their assigned bib numbers during competition and on the front on their jerseys only.  If an athlete loses the bib number, a replacement can be purchased for a fee of $15
 
EVENT RESULTS: During competition, event results will be posted at the track facility by the awards area.  In addition, event results will be posted at http://southtexas.usatf.org/Home.aspx. and on AdkinsTiming.com.
 
PROTESTS: There will be a $100. fee for all protests.  Protests must be submitted to the Protest Referee located next to the press box not later than 30 minutes after a result has been posted.  The protest fee will be refunded if the protest is upheld.
 
RULES – CONDUCT & FACILITY: UTSA and USATF rules apply.
 
GATE ADMISSION FEES: $10.00 per person a day, children 4-u=free; 5 day season pass is $35., athletes/coaches on the South Texas, Southwestern, Gulf and West Texas approved USATF coaches’ registry background check lists will receive one free entry wristband in their athletes’ packets. This wristband is good for the whole meet.  Lost wristbands will cost $10. daily. Coaches must provide ID to get their free wristbands.
